"Do I go to school today, mommy?" was the question I was asked this morning. "No, you go on Tuesday and Thursday, this is Friday. You don't go today." "Oh, I'm sad when I don't go to school." We even have some homework that we need to do for next Tuesday; it's an "All About Me" kind of sheet, and we need to take a family photo and a baby photo to school. She had her first memory work yesterday and she remembered it better than I did! (They don't have to say it by themselves at school but together as a class, but she did really good by herself.)
While she was at school yesterday, I had breakfast at Pony Expresso with my friend Audrey, whose daughter started preschool yesterday at the Catholic school (they started a week later with the preschool). That was a nice way to start the morning. We walked down to the Sports & Rec office and signed the kids up for Junior Soccer this fall. I thought it was on Sunday afternoons for a few weeks, but that must be regular soccer. Jr. Soccer for 3-5 year olds is from 5:30 to 6:15 on a Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday in September....so it must just be a kind of "okay, here's a soccer ball, go kick it!" Asked about tumbling/gymnastics, and the director said it's on his list to see what he can work out -- there are a lot of things to work on: mats, qualified instructor, whether they need extra liability insurance, etc. But, there are a number of folks in town interested in it, and the Olympics isn't hurting it right now.
Today is our library day, so we'll go here in a little bit to take back books and get new ones. Allison likes to play on the children's computer down there for awhile, too.
We had a 'tense' situation last night. Allison went down to the "bottom" of our property to work on trimming etc and he had let her carry the key to the tractor in her overalls. Well, guess what? Yep, she lost it. It wasn't a pretty happy time at our house last night. We looked around for it, but it was like looking for the proverbial key in the haystack. Dad just called and said he can get a replacement key in 1-2 days for $9! Thank GOODNESS!!! We were afraid it would be a high dollar replacement...thank goodness it was not. (BTW, if you know Bruce and see him, you might not want to mention this little incident....it's a little raw.....)
