School Christmas Program

A star is born! If all goes as it did tonight, we have a little actress on our hands.

Tonight was the school's Christmas program at the high school auditorium. The preschool and kindergarten kids sang some songs and did some fingerplays; the older kids put on a musical production; and then the entire school participated in a portrayal of the Christmas story from Luke 2.

A did a GREAT job. She knew all of the words and actions to her songs and fingerplays and was right on cue. She even added her own "jazz" to at least one of the songs by adding a little hip action dance to it.

I am very proud of her. She did great!

On a side note, before the program started, Pastor Kirk (from the country churches) opened with a couple of notes and then said a prayer. One of the things he wanted to point out was that one of the microphones was not working and that he asked folks to pretend that a pin was dropped on the carpet, meaning that he was asking folks to be extra quiet so the actors could be heard, who did not have a working microphone. Well, this seemed to really bother A because following the program she found it very, very important to ask me what had dropped. I didn't know what she was meaning, but upon continued discussion she was concerned about the "pin dropping" and what that meant, and what was wrong, etc. She brought it up again and again following the program. I told her dad that we were going to have to demonstrate physically dropping a pin so she could "see" and "hear" what it meant!
