Family Vacation - Day 2

fter a fantastic stay at an airport hotel, yes AIRPORT hotel, we had a fairlly lazy start to the day.  We stayed at the Wingate at Wyndham Hotel, and their beds were FANTASTIC!!!  The beds reminded me of the beds at the President in Kansas City.  Wonderful pillows and a duvet (sp?) on the bed...ahhhh....I was in fluffy bedding heaven!!!

We had a wonderful breakfast (belgium waffles...yum yum!)...and then headed out to explore the area.  We headed to the 'downtown' area of Orlando.  The Germin worked pretty well for us today too.  The downtown area is a typical business area with banks etc., but also an artsy district with galleries, etc.  We went to the Orange County History Building first, then walked for awhile and went to an art gallery and the Grand Bohemian Hotel which had some art galleries.  We rode the downtown free "Lymmo" busses for a bit to see a little bit more of downtown area.  We also went to the Orange County Public Library. Bruce was going to peruse some of the local newspapers (the area he said looked like he found the homeless shelter); Allison and I spent the time in the Children's Department.  The library was awesome....it had a coffee shop, a gift shop, 6 floors of books, etc.,....the video section was impressive...TONS of movies, limit of 20 DVDs at a time, check out time 1 week.  I would love that :)

We then headed to the 'creme de le creme' of surprises that we had for Miss Allison.

We made reservations just the other night for a three-night stay at the Nick Hotel.  It is a family resort based on the Nickelodeon network, with shows like Spongebob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, WonderPets, etc.  We are staying in a two-bedroom suite and Allison has her own bedroom with the Rugrats on the wall.  There are two huge swimming pool areas with big slides, etc.  We got here in time to see the "sliming" at one of the pools  Allison had SO MUCH FUN at the pools.  She would go round and round to use the slide.

She was excited to go to bed, not only bcause she was exhausted, but because she had her own bedroom with bunkbeds ("I always wanted bunkbeds"), and her own television with a remote!   "Mom, can I watch TV before bed?"

Tomorrow we are headed to Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. We are riding the shuttle from the hotel over so we are leaving pretty early....so, I had best get to bed. :)
