Black Friday

I actually did get up at 4:30 this morning and was out at WalMart at 5:00. I am so naive when it comes to this day after Thanksgiving shopping. I really haven't participated in this for about 20 years or so. I have never really had a need to get anything that was a "super deal" on Black Friday. I had no idea that people actually did show up at 5:00 in little ole' Marysville. I was late in comparison with 99 percent of everyone else. The parking lot was jammed ... I had to park over in the east lot by Hall Brothers. There were no empty carts left, and there were people pushing carts EVERYWHERE! You pretty much just had to get in line and go with the flow of traffic. The specials were all on pallets set up in the middle of all of the aisles. I was able to get Santa's gift for Allison so that is taken care of now; ALlison is done. I was able to buy Bruce's gift to me! (VBG) and I bought the family a JVC camcorder. It is really nice. I think we are really going to enjoy it. It's really easy to use and compact. Plus it takes still pictures in addition to video, which is nice. It records to a 30GB hard drive, and then I can upload it to the laptop and burn the video onto a DVD when I am ready. I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it shouldn't be too hard. I also got Allison three pairs of $4 pajamas. It seems we are always hunting for pajamas at our house, and she has outgrown all of her flannel footie pajamas. These are just two piece shirt and pants, but good enough. She doesn't like anything on her feet anyway. I also wanted to get some of the $2 DVDs. I watch a lot of movies when I scrapbook. I thought I found the display, and I picked up like 10-12 DVDs. I get to the checkout and only 4 of them ring up as $2, so I only got those. I wasn't going to pay the extra for the other movies.

This afternoon Allison and I went to the Chamber of Commerce sponsored free movie for kids. It was Alvin and the Chipmunks. We've already seen it, but it was still fun. There was a full house. We got out about 4:35, and it was kind of spitting snowy rainy stuff. We ran and got dad at the radio station, and drove back downtown, just in time for Santa Claus to come to town on the fire truck with Mrs. Claus. Allison was totally disappointed in this parade. She told me she wanted it to be a long parade. I told her that this was just a parade to welcome Santa to town. She said that Santa Claus always has a long parade. (sigh)
