Lookie-lookie....I can actually post pictures of something that I MADE!!!! WOOT-WOOT!!!!! I don't feel like the creative flair has still reappeared into my life, but this gives me a little bit of hope.
My sister, Amy, gave me these letters awhile back...I don't remember exactly when, but I don't think it was t-o-o long ago because Shelby is only a little over 5 months old now. She wanted me to paint them or decorate them somehow so she could hang them above the baby's crib. Well, of course, I jumped at the prospect! I did, however, ask if it was okay to cover them with paper. I have discovered that I am better with paper than with paint. It just looks better....
So, these are them....hanging up above the crib. I think they look pretty dern good if I do say so myself! :) The paper I used was out of a paper pack I got on clearance (to boot) at Joann's awhile back of Debbie Mumm baby paper. It's nice and thick, and some is embossed with pretty shiny embossing.
I inked around all of the edges with a green cat eye chalk. The butterfly was cut out of the paper pack and foam dotted on.The double hearts are pink gems.
Very possibly my least favorite part of these letters is the vertical rub on I did on the long part of the E. It is a rub on from the Debbie Mumm collection, and it was just supposed to add a little zip, but it kinda looks lame. The green flowers are flannel flowers from Target.
The leaves are cut from Walk in My Garden Cricut cartridge and inked in green. The flower was something I had in my stash; it pink felt and it already had the gem attached.I am always proud of these flowers that I make. I usually cut 6-8 flowers out of the Walk in the Garden cartridge, using different colors and patterns of paper, and staggering the sizes by 1/4", i.e., 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 3/4", 2", etc., depending on how big I want the end result flower to be. Then I crumple up the flower pieces (you can even spritz them lightly with water mister for even more distressed look), and smooth them back out to ink them up. Then layer then from largest to smallest on top, and put a larger brad through the middle for the center of the flower, and to keep the pieces together. I just really like how these turn out. You can go ahead and adhere to your work with glue dots.
The fancy schmancy on the upper right hand part of the Y is from the Storybook Cricut cartridge, and made with layers. The edges are inked, and then random gems were adhered for a little extra bling, as well as some fibers.
