Hanover (just down the road) is having it's annual Days of 49 celebration, which includes parades on Friday and Saturday nights. Bruce has helped announce the parades the last few years. He does a really good job; he had one last night, and the second one tonight. One of the nights, it is tradition to actually air the parade on the radio, so I will be sitting at the radio station tonight to get it on the air.
In Marysville this weekend is the Marysville AutoFest and Big Blue BBQ. While the car show has been going on for several years, the BBQ competition has been on for only the past couple of years; it is really growing. I think Bruce thought there were like 32 to 35 competitors this year. That seems like a lot. With the BBQ and the car show the same weekend, it has really turned into a fun festival like atmosphere. The grocery store sponsored "Little Apple Amusements", which included 5 inflatable bouncing/jumping play items, a game, etc. There was also a couple who had a "mini car' race track set up (we had just seen one of these when we were in Colorado). It was only $2, so I let Allison try her hand at it this time. Union Paciific Railroad had their mini train here again this year for rides. It was pretty hot downtown, but it was a fun atmosphere, that's for sure.
I thought this caterpillar was really cute. I'd never seen one of these. The kids walked in one end of the caterpillar, when through it (Allison said there were steps and slides, etc.), and then out the other side.
