Big Wheels on Broadway

One of my very good friends from high school came to town the weekend of April 25. I hadn't seen her for a long, long time, so it was great to be able to get together. Annie, and her son to be adopted son, John, came up. The really neat, and ironic, coincidence is that John is also 4 years old, just like Allison, and his birthday is October 11, and Allison's is October 12. He was born on the day Allison was due. So, they are only 1 day apart. How cool is that. This was the first time the two of them had met, and they got along wonderfully. How cool is it that kids can make friends so easily and so quickly!

Saturday was Big Wheels on Broadway, a function sponsored by Smart Start and Parents as Teachers through the Lincoln Center here in town for kids to experience different types of trucks, etc. Volunteers bring in different trucks and vehicles for the kids to crawl in, push buttons, experience.... There were tractors of different sizes, semi truck with livestock trailer, tree trimming truck, ambulance, police truck, fire truck, etc. There was also a 'destruction' table, where kids can take apart different items such as a computer keyboard, harddrive, other things; Schwan's was there with free ice cream (although it was a cold morning); and Smart Start had some free bicycle helmets left. Allison and John.
My friend, Annie, and her son, John.

When we left there, we headed to Seneca for lunch at McDonald's and a Kid's Fair at their community center. It was for parents, daycare providers, educators, etc. ...anyone who works with specifically young children and families. There were different resources and information.
