The children in grades one through eight performed a musical called, "Arkeology." It is based on the story of Noah's Ark. They did an awesome job. It was one of the most labor intensive productions in my recent memory/history of attending these programs. A lot of work went into constructing the set, but even moreso all of the costumes and masks for Noah's family and for the pairs of 'animals.'
After the preschool and kindergarten classes sang, then the elementary kids, grades 1 through 8, took to the stage.
The "Lounge Lizard" was one of the favorite parts of the show....he was like a Vegas (or a cruise ship) hotel bar comedian, trying to entertain, and make a little more livelier, the trip on the ark for the animals.
Noah's family members singing and dancing 'in the rain."
And finally the rain has stopped, the doors of the ark have opened, and the rainbow of promise has appeared in the sky.
Following the musical at the high school auditorium, then everyone was invited back to the school for the carnival. This is always a fun time for the kids, and a time of socialization and fellowship for the adults, parents and grandparents, and any other folks who want to stop by. There are games for the kids, a cakewalk, which is popular with kids and adults (in which Allison won a cake on her very first try this year -- talk about pretty excited!), and root beer floats and sloppy nachos among other treats.
