Day 2 of the travelers' journey.....not too much to report. It would seem that nothing really wanted to be open for us for New Year's Day. Upon checking around about our options for New Year's Day, we didn't have much luck. It seems that the Visitor's Center is closed until the 4th; the Grey Line Tours had tour to the stars home, and that was it, but will resume the rest of the tours on Friday; nor were museums, etc. open. So we decided to get in the rental car, and drive. We headed south, thinking we would go to Murfreesboro, but we kinda missed that. We made a few (very few) stops at some antique stores along the way, but we ended up in Alabama tonight, in Birmingham. We are going to see what this town is like on Friday, and then try to find a scenic route back to Nashville - we like to head through the little towns and see the stores and downtown areas. We like antique stores. We went through a town named Cullman before we got to Birmingham, but everything was closed. I might like to go back through there.
Hopefully we will have more to report tomorrow night...maybe some pictures, too.
