If you have never seen the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus," you must! It is by far one my most favorite movies. It was made in 1995 and I actually do own the VHS tape of it. I had started watching the Golden Globes tonight on television, and it was boring me terribly, so I went channel surfing. I found this movie playing on Encore. I cannot even tell you how many times I've seen it. I caught it with only like 45 minutes or so left to go in the movie, but that's okay...it's still wonderful. Maybe a person has to be a teacher to fully appreciate it. The part that gets me the most is at the end when Mr. Holland walks into that full auditorium of people, former students, former co-workers, etc., and they are there to honor HIM...the students are "his notes, his musical work!" I cry every time. Another great part is when he is singing the John Lennon song using sign language to his deaf son. (sigh)... WOW!
