We did decide to try yet again, at least one more time. So, when we were down in Manhattan back around the first of November or so, we stopped at a pet shop in Westloop, thinking that maybe if we get a fish at an actual fish shop maybe it would live. Well, the lady there was much more informed, of course, on fish health and maintenance and told me that it is not uncommon for fish to die the first month a new aquarium is set up, until the good bacteria and stuff is built up. Well, that did make me feel a little better. The only goldfish they had were in the 'feeder tank'...you know, the kind that people buy to feed their other animals that might eat goldfish...there were floaters, icky stuff, etc., floating and swimming in that tank. I wasn't going to buy anything, but thought again, oh what the heck, for $0.15 a piece, which not?
These guys have been the MOST fun!!! They are still alive! and they are active and swim around like nothing we've had before. These guys have an energy about them...I swear I think in their little fish brains they realize how very lucky they were to be fished out of the 'death tank' and brought home where we feed THEM!!! :) They are great fun to watch!!! Arther is the one with the black markings on him.
