We've had a really big weekend!
Friday evening I went over to one of the churches here in town and did a little bit of scrapbooking with a few of the ladies. I didn't get a lot done, but something, and it was just nice to be out and about and socialize with others.
Then Saturday morning I tutored first thing in the morning, then took Allison to get her hair done, and then on to Manhattan for a wedding. A cousin, Ryan, was marrying Jenny, and Allison was asked to help in the ceremony. She was a "Honor/Memory" Rose carrier. She and four other little girls and two boys carried a rose each in honor of grandparents or other close family/friend who passed were honored. They were pretty much the very first ones in the church processional, and then we sat down. The wedding was supposed to start at 2:30, and it was 2:50 before the bride was actually escorted and situated in the front of the church. Allison was EVERYWHERE in our pew area. My goodness! The church was a very large Catholic church in Manhattan, and there was a lot of echo. There weren't any other kids around us to buffer either. It wasn't even necessarily that she was loud; she really wasn't. But, she was naughty. On the floor, on the bench, clunking her shoes around, restless, wouldn't be even a tad bit still for anything. After a half an hour of this, and topping it off by hitting me, I packed up and we left. Well, this did not go over well with her. We got outside the church, headed to the car, and she started crying, "I don't want to leave. I want to go to the party!" (reception/dinner/dance) I made her get in the car, in her carseat, and we drove a few blocks away, and parked in a parking lot for a little bit to calm ourselves. She threw a full-fledged temper tantrum (not something that usually happens with Allison...she has her moments, but I don't remember her EVER throwing a tantrum...seriously!)
We both settled down and calmed for a bit, and talked about it. We agreed that she could behave better, etc., and agreed that if she misbehaved at the reception we would leave and go home.
Of course, this did go better, because it was a much more relaxed environment. She had a BLAST! The other little kids from the wedding party were there, and she played and made friends, and had a great time. She danced and danced and danced, and then she danced some more. The dancing started around 7:00, so I was able to talk her into leaving by 9:00, and we were home and she was in bed a little after 10:00, so thankfully it was not a late night, but a long day nonetheless. I don't have the pictures here by me at this computer, but I will upload them later on.
Today, we went to Sunday School this morning, and then came home and I took a nap. Yes, mom needed a nap! Then we went to Waterville and saw a live production of "The Three Little Pigs" at the old Opera House. It was sponsored by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative, and there was no admission. It was performed by members of the Wichita Children's Dance Repretory Theater. They are doing some type of performance/workshop tomorrow at Frankfort. Allison (and I) enjoyed it very much. We went too early (I thought it started at 1:00, but it started at 2:00), so we were able to spend some time at the city park playing for a little bit. So that was nice to get out and about.
